A gardening kit for children aged 3 to 8, The Fairy Garden Box brings together everything a young child needs to plant, tend and play in a small garden of their own making.
The kit is built around the act of growing something real. Children plant seeds in expandable coconut peat soil, water them, and watch them come up; the fairy figures, plywood accessories and play tray give them a world to arrange around whatever is growing. It is the combination of genuine gardening and open-ended play that holds a child's attention past the first afternoon, because the garden keeps changing as the seeds do.
The accessories are sized for small hands, and the step-by-step instructions are written so that a child can follow them with only light supervision. In our experience, the most useful thing an adult can do is resist the urge to take over; children who plant and water for themselves are far more interested in what comes up.
Once the initial seeds have been grown on, seasonal refill kits are available, including strawberry, Christmas, Halloween and Easter versions, so the tray and figures can be kept in use rather than set aside.
